Location
Dunk Island is situated just 7 kilometres (4 miles) east of the unspoiled Queensland coastal vacation resort village of Mission Beach midway between Townsville and Cairns. Mission Beach is a 2.5 hour drive (approx 160km) from Cairns or a leisurely 3.5 hour drive (approx. 230klm) from Port Douglas, and a 15 minute (7km) boat transfer from Mission Beach to the Island. Because of its easy access to the mainland it is rated as the most ideal island resort in the Great Barrier Reef region to combine with your land based vacation accommodation. It offers a total vacation experience that includes both the wide variety of activities and attractions of Tropical North Queensland's mainland combined with the lazy indulgence of one of Australia's most famous Island resorts - Dunk Island.

Getting There
Flight Transfers: 
Regular flights are available from all major Australian capital cities to Dunk Island (DKI) via Cairns (CNS) with Qantas (QF) and Virgin Blue (DJ). Australian residents can check with Travel Online for the best available airfares.
Hinterland Aviation (CC) operates the connecting flight between Cairns and Dunk Island. Or a private charter flight can be booked with Reefwatch.
Baggage Allowance: Passengers may be restricted to one suitcase and one small carry-on item of hand luggage each. A limit of 16kg applies (subject to loading restrictions)
Launch Transfers: The Quickcat departs Clump Point (2 hours south of Cairns) to Dunk Island and return twice daily. The transfer takes 20 minutes each way.
Mission Beach Dunk Island Connections operate coach shuttle services between Silky Oaks, Port Douglas, Cairns Northern Beaches, Cairns Airport and Cairns City accommodation daily to connect with the Quick Cat launch transfer to Dunk Island. Port Douglas transfers available on request. Transfer time is approximately 2 1/2 hours. Please note these times are to be used as a guide only and are subject to change without notice. All bookings with Mission Beach Dunk Island Connections must be reconfirmed at least 24 hours prior to travel.

Casual resort style clothing for daytime, smart casual after 6.00pm. Also include suitable foot ware for beach and island walks.
Tips for travelling to Dunk Iisland
- Check in time is 2.00pm. If you are arriving on a flight before 2.00pm, we recommend that you carry a 'day bag' with swimming costumes etc. Change rooms and shower facilities are available in the Departure Lounge
- Credit card details will be required on arrival to set up room charge accounts. All major cards accepted.
- Reception Hours 7.30am - 9.30pm
- Complimentary guest laundry (powder can be purchased from the resort shop)
